∂ Carrie Zimmerman had always wanted to be a mom. When she was younger and she'd be asked what she wanted to be when she grew up the answer was always 'a mom.' But after getting married as a young woman she realized she'd saddled herself with a husband that wasn't so keen on being a father. It was the source of constant discontent in their marriage but once Carrie's sister-in-law got pregnant things got worse. There was her brother ready to become a father and she was left behind. She sat her husband down and had a serious talk with him. He gave in and she became pregnant shortly after.
∂ Tabitha Paige was born six months after her cousin and was named after the daughter on the tv series Bewitched. Though originally the plan had been to have four children it turned out she was enough for her parents and grew up as an only child. The advantage of that, of course, being that only children were somewhat spoiled. As a young girl she was the sort to have a new hobby every few weeks. Gymnastics, Ballet, Bowling...but then she wanted to ride horses. Her family assumed that this, too, would just be a phase but even so they bought her the necessary gear and signed her up. It was love at first trot. Tabi had finally found her passion and was lucky enough to do so at a young age.
∂ She never grew out of her horse stage and in fact it lasted from then on. She entered the world of competitive horse riding as a teenager and spent time traveling around competing. She was good, very good, but not quite of the financial background to afford the type of horse that was mindset needed to continue to reach the upper echelon of Olympic Caliber athletes. Plus there was the added fact that her parents made sure she always put her studies first. School was the single most important thing in her parents eyes and so Tabi worked hard to exceed their expectations. When it came time for college the girl knew exactly what she wanted to do, though it came as a surprise to most that instead of going Pre-Vet she chose the major of Animal Husbandry. Tabitha had decided she wanted to be a breeder. On top of that surprise the girl accepted admittance into a school far from home. Instead of ASU she chose to go to the University of Connecticut.
∂ There was definite fear on the part of her parents that they wouldn't ever have the pleasure of living near their little girl again. But really she'd just liked the program at UConn. She wanted something different and she got it there. She spent four years working hard, riding for the schools NCAA equestrian team, getting good grades, making new friends...but at the end of it she returned to Phoenix. She's been back home since June and loves living back in the city she grew up in. She's working as a trainer and riding instructor and also working as a Breeding Consultant. Her goal is to own her own breeding facility one day but she's not sure how she'll be able to realize that goal.
